During what phase of the cell cycle does mitosis and cytokinesis occur
Mitosis and cytokinesis occur on this part called cell division. Mitosis itself is a kind of cell division that occurs only on somatic or body cells. It is composed of 4 phases:
- Prophase -nuclear membrane disintegrates, chromatins condense into chromosomes
- Metaphase - chromosomes move to metaphase plate, centrioles move to opposite poles of the cell and spindle fibers attach to chromosomes
- Anaphase - chromosomes are pulled into opposite poles, the cell stretches towards opposite poles
- Telophase - the cells are now almost divided. This starts the cytokinesis stage. The cell gradually reforms their own nuclear membrane back called karyokinesis, and the cell separates, cytokinesis.
